Delicious, healthy morning smoothies

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great, fun weekend, and didn’t neglect your workouts or healthy eating! I always like to have a little “treat” or “cheat” meal on Saturday nights. I feel like it satisfies any little cravings I’ve been feeling all week, it’s something to look forward to, and you gotta treat yourself to something sinful every once in awhile! I also find it helps me keep on track the rest of the week, and my workouts Sunday mornings are always more intense too.

Today I’m going to share with you some delicious and healthy smoothie recipes to get your day started off right. I always love to start my mornings with some fruit, and lately I’ve been loving huge, fruit smoothies. I notice when I have a fruit smoothie in the AM, I’m full of energy, and full of life for the rest of the day. Fruit is AMAZING. It is, quite literally, life. In the morning, there is no healthier food to consume than fresh, delicious, organic fruit. Here are few of my favorite recipes. The instructions are the same for all the smoothies: place all ingredients into a blender, and blend until smooth! Add more liquid if it is too thick, add more ice if your berries are fresh!

BASIC BERRY SMOOTHIE
1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or other nut milk)
1 cup frozen mixed berries
1/2 cup frozen strawberries or raspberries (it makes the smoothie pinker!)
1 ripe banana
4 ice cubes
Pinch of cinnamon

PURPLE SMOOTHIE
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 cup frozen blackberries
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbsp hemp seeds
1/2 cup pineapple
1/8 tsp vanilla extract (or a few seeds from a vanilla pod)
4 ice cubes
Pinch of cinnamon

ORANGE CREAM SMOOTHIE
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/2 cup orange juice (with or without pulp, your choice)
1 orange
1 banana
1 date
1 tbsp hemp seeds
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
6 ice cubes

SKINNY SMOOTHIE
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 cup frozen raspberries
1/2 cup pineapple
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbsp hemp seeds
4-6 ice cubes
Pinch of cinnamon

WINTER FRUIT SMOOTHIE
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 kaki/persimmon
1/2 of the seeds from a pomegranate
1/2 cactus fruit/prickly pear
2 clementines
1/4 banana
6 ice cubes
Pinch of cinnamon

And now, a few from the Thrive Diet:

GINGER PEAR SMOOTHIE (inflammation reducer)
1 banana
1/2 pear, cored
2 cups cold water (or 1 1/2 cups water + 1 cup ice)
1 tbsp ground flaxseed
1 tbsp hemp protein
1 tbsp grated ginger

CHOCOLATE ALMOND SMOOTHIE (antioxidant-rich)
1 banana
2 dates
2 cups cold water (or 1 1/2 cups water + 1 cup ice)
1/4 cup almonds (or 2 tbsp raw almond butter)
1 tbsp ground flaxseed
1 tbsp hemp protein
1 tbsp roasted carbon powder (or cacao nibs to make smoothie 100% raw)

SWEET GREEN SMOOTHIE (chlorophyll-rich)
6 leaves romaine lettuce
2 dates
2 cups water
1 cup honeydew melon
1 tbsp ground flaxseed
1 tbsp hemp protein
1/2 tbsp grated ginger

Smoothies are SUPER fun and easy and quick to make. Feel free to make variations to the options I’ve presented to you, and have fun mixing and matching your own ingredients! Anything goes in a smoothie. Add in coconut shreds, dried fruit, cacao nibs, agave (for sweetness), hemp protein powder, seeds, nuts, nut butters, a handful of spinach… the options for smoothies are truly endless.

Are there any smoothies that you make regularly and LOVE? Share the recipe in the comments, I’d love to try them!

Have an amazing Monday guys and dolls, be healthy and above all be happy!

Peace, love and sweetness,
xx Laura

  1. I miss the smoothy-breaks I used to take this summer while working really hard around the house! For me a smoothie is a treat. It feels and tastes luxurious!
