Good morning world! Happy Hump Day! As those of you who follow me on Instagram and Facebook know, just following my back injury (& healing), as I was doing my first workout in over a week, I rolled my ankle. SIGH. It got swollen pretty fast and bruised as well. I didn’t think it would be so bad, but it is. It isn’t as bad as my very first (and WORST) ankle sprain, and I’ve rolled my ankle since then but it’s always been okay the day after. I’ve been RICEing it: Rest, Icing, Compression & Elevation for the last 3 days. It seems to be getting better, but I’m going to see a Bowen therapist tomorrow (on the recommendation of one of my Facebook friends), and hopefully this will help speed up the healing process!
What have I been doing with all this leisure time? READING and EATING! I started rereading the Power of Now from the point I had left off last time, and it brought me to the middle of the chapter about PAIN. Man, this hit so close to home. It was the absolute most perfect thing for me to read at this moment in time. I’m going to share with you some passages from the chapter I was reading, and after each passage, I’ll ask you to PAUSE and think about how this relates to your life, and how you can apply the theory of NOW into your every day living.
The first talks about the meaning of Zen – to be so utterly NOW that nothing from the past or future can disrupt your happiness, because you are NOW, and the past is past and the future hasn’t happened yet. Who you ARE is NOW, it isn’t a problem or a difficulty. Psychological time holds anxiety and sadness and depression and uncertainty. We can move away from this notion of “time” and live in the NOW. This isn’t to say that we forget about “clock time” – we can be so much more focused on deadlines, goals and dreams when we just focus on NOW and the clock time needed to do certain tasks to help us reach that goal or dream. When we get preoccupied with psychological time, that’s where our demise is. This is hard to comprehend, especially because as humans we really tend to over-think and worry all the time, but really, truly, immerse yourself in the reading – it helps!
This next passage really helped me a LOT to deal with my injury. While I was reading it, I was thinking, oh my gosh, this is ME! I was dwelling on the pain and the injury, making it ME and MINE, when in fact, it is NOT me. It happened, and now I am past it. It is still “happening” to me, yes, but it is NOT me. I can do other things, I can focus on other things, I can be happy and present and positive.
This next one is related to goal-setting and reaching your goals, and it is so POWERFUL!
This one speaks for itself. Enjoy xox
In conclusion… DON’T WORRY BE HAPPY! 😀
